Wedding at The Addison, Boca Raton, FL – Alyssa + Israel

Alyssa and Israel are high school sweethearts that met when they were only 15 years old! Their story is a true love story that began at Coral Reef Senior High School and led them down the aisle this past weekend. Together, they are the definition of soulmates.  From the moment they met as kids, they had that connection that led to friendship and romance.  They have grown up together and motivated each other to be the amazing people they are today.  Their wedding day was years in the making and was such a beautiful beginning to the next chapter as husband and wife.  We feel so honored to have been there to capture those memories for them!

We met Alyssa and Israel back in January when they booked us for their engagement session and December wedding date.  December is among the most popular month’s to get married in South Florida so we encourage couples to book us as soon as they book their venue to ensure that we have their day available.  We only shoot one wedding per day and once we are booked we have to send the dreaded email stating that the day is no longer available.  It’s never really too soon to book us – we have already booked our first wedding for 2020! Luckily, we were available for Alyssa and Israel’s big day and what a lovely day it was!

They could not have chosen a more perfect day to say “I do”.  Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton followed by a gorgeous reception at The Addison.  It was a daytime wedding which was full of love, delicious food, and dancing – so much dancing!  A good time was had by all. Everything was spectacular – from the anticipation of seeing each other as they got ready early in the morning to the awesome bubble send off by their friends and family.  We hope that you enjoy this blog post as much as we enjoyed capturing every moment.  Congrats Alyssa and Israel!

Wedding at the Bonnet House – Yvette + Diego

If you are reading this, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day filled with great food with your loved ones. We certainly enjoyed ours! We didn’t want November to slip away without expressing the things we are thankful for.  Gratitude is certainly a topic that comes up during this season – but it is a worthwhile topic to talk about all year long.  If you follow our blog, you may notice that we often acknowledge the relationships we genuinely feel grateful for – our friends, family, clients and colleagues.  We have learned to make gratitude part of who we are rather than just something we conjure for the holidays or solely when good things happen. There is always something to be grateful for! We are happy to share Yvette and Diego’s wedding on this blog to help highlight some of these things.

We are grateful for our clients.  First and foremost, our clients are the center of our wedding photography business. Without them, Photography by Santy Martinez would cease to exist.  We are extra thankful for clients like Yvette and Diego – happy, sweet and charismatic. We are grateful we are trusted to capture important moments for them. Our clients are simply the best!

We are grateful for our unique vantage point.  As wedding photographers, we get to witness a multitude of traditions and cultures and travel to different states, countries and continents that we had never imagined. We meet people from all over the globe and experience life in a beautiful way.  We are thankful for every second that we get to do this job and every place it takes us. Thank you, Yvette and Diego, for providing these moments on your special day.  We really enjoyed capturing your families’ traditional ceremonies and overall good time. Knowing that these photographs will be enjoyed for generations gives us purpose and for that, we are grateful!

We are grateful for the wonderful vendors we get to work with every weekend. There is so much talent that goes into every aspect of a wedding.  From DJs that keep the party going to the amazing wedding planners … we have had the pleasure to work with some of the best in the business! This wedding was no different – Yvette’s beautiful makeup application was done by the awesome Touch of Beauty by Lily and the gorgeous centerpieces were designed by Stems by Jen.  We also can’t forget the amazing staff at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale! These are just a few examples of the vendors that make a wedding day extra special and in turn, helps us create beautiful images for the couple.  We are so thankful for them!

We are grateful for our small business and the lifestyle it has allowed us to create.  It has been an amazing year.  This Fall season alone has been back to back weddings every weekend since September.  Although we may miss out on some of our own family moments on the weekends, we are thankful that our business has allowed us to control how we spend our time.  We are able to work while also being present for our children during the week which is priceless.  Protecting this lifestyle is what motivates us to always give 150% of our energy and talent at every job we do.

We are thankful for our staff and each other.  Who wouldn’t want to work day in and day out with their spouse? Ok, maybe don’t answer that! However, Santy and I actually love working with each other.  Photography was one of the first bonds that brought us together and we feel lucky to share it with each other.  We had so much fun shooting this wedding together at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale.  Witnessing romance every weekend only strengthens our own relationship and for that, we are grateful!  Additionally, the rest of our staff, from second shooters to videographers to our fabulous photo booth attendants, make going to work a blast! Thank you!

And we can go on and on…. I’ll instead leave you to a peak at Yvette and Diego’s wedding day and let the pictures speak for themselves!

Wedding at The Coral Gables Country Club – Alisan + Robbie

Miami Wedding PhotographersWe always get excited when we get a message from a wedding planner asking, “Do you have this date available?” We love it because we know that if a couple is referred through a wedding planner there’s a great chance they are recommending us because we have worked together in the past and they liked our style and service. They contact us because they already know we will be a good fit with their client. We get excited because working together with one of the many fantastic wedding coordinators in South Florida means that everything is sure to look amazing, the day will be organized, and even the smallest details will be handled with professionalism.  We get excited because it means collaborating with a colleague in the business and sharing a laugh or two. We just get excited! Now- we triple that excitement when the question comes from one of favorites – Events by Gigi!  This is exactly what occurred October of last year when Gigi simply asked if we were available to shoot a wedding on November 11, 2018 for a sweet couple – Alisan and Robbie.  It turned out that we had the date free and we are grateful that we did or not we would not be able to present this beautiful couple in this blog today.

Alisan and Robbie had such a spectacular wedding day. It was truly one of those perfect Fall days in Miami with blue skies and just enough coolness in the air to let you know it’s not summertime anymore.  The sunny weather must have been a delight to their 200+ guests who all arrived from the Northeast to celebrate with the happy couple. The whole event took place at the Coral Gables Country Club.  This is where the two first saw each other in their wedding attire during an intimate first look and portrait session right before the ketubah signing ceremony. Just as the sun began to set, all of their guests awaited to witness the two exchange vows under the chuppah – symbolizing the home they will build together. And by the looks of all the friends and family surrounding them, they will be building a home full of love.  Once the marriage was made official, it was time to drink, eat, and dance the night away!

The ballroom was impeccable! It was clear that their vision was perfectly executed into a sea of white floral arrangements with hints of gold.  We were just as blown away with the decor as the bride and groom were! It was the perfect setting for Alisan and Robbie’s first dance as man and wife. No Jewish wedding is complete without the Hora, or chair dance. In this tradition, a few strong and brave guests hoist the bride and groom high above the crowd on chairs to the infectious sounds of “Hava Nagila” played by the amazing band. It was so much fun! And the fun continued through the night.  What a fantastic way to start a marriage!

So, to say that we were excited for this wedding is an understatement – and now we are excited to share some of our favorite highlights with you.  Please join us in congratulating Alisan and Robbie as we wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Wedding – Church of the Little Flower – Rania + Andy – Miami Wedding Photographers

If you live in South Florida, you know how crazy and unpredictable our weather can be.  One day is a sunny, beach-ready day while the following is a tropical depression – literally.  Last Saturday’s wedding day was the latter.  Now, before you start with the “It’s like raaai-aaaain on your wedding day” lyrics by Alanis Morissette, let me make one thing clear: October 28th was the single most perfect, fun, and love-filled day for Rania and Andy – and I don’t think they would change one thing about it, even the rain!

We arrived at the Trump National Doral with the same enthusiasm we do when we are about to start a new wedding day.  This day we decided to step it up a notch, we knew that we needed to keep the energy level high as our first goal was to reassure the bride that a little rain wasn’t going to get in the way of her special day.  This task was not difficult to do – when we walked into the bridal suite, Rania was already surrounded by positive vibes with her sister, cousin, mother and bridesmaids by her side.  Right away, we let her know not to worry about her outdoor portraits. Because the rain was out of anyone’s control, we told Rania if she is willing to get dolled up in her weddinggown once more, we would be willing to come out another day to capture the outdoor portraits she envisioned.  We hope this put her at ease and helped her focus on her wedding day festivities.  Our mission as wedding photographers is to deliver a beautiful final product.  We not only document every detail of your day, we want to capture wedding portraits worthy for display.  During our final meeting with our couples, we always discuss factoring in time for portraits into the timeline.  Some couples opt to do a “first look” where they do portraits prior to the ceremony, some allocate an hour after ceremony for pictures, while others simply plan the post-session ahead of time because of the logistics of their wedding day.  In Rania and Andy’s case, we offered to do a post-session by circumstance, but we think they will be happy with the option.

Both Rania and Andy got ready at the Trump National Doral – the same resort that would later host their reception.  Every aspect of Rania’s wedding attire was on point.  From her makeup to her unique dress to the red bottoms of her shoes – she was beyond stunning!  On the other end of the resort, Andy was anxiously waiting to see his bride.  He too was surrounded by positive vibes as he put on the finishing touches before heading to the church.  The ceremony was held at The Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables. The pews were already full of friends and family when we arrived.  The rainstorm subsided long enough for the bride to make her grand entrance and the look on the groom’s face was priceless.  The traditional mass was classy and touching – it was evident throughout the ceremony that these two were truly in love.  It was perfect.

A short drive led us back to the hotel where every detail in the ballroom was set to perfection. We always like to take the bride and groom into their venue space for portraits with their decor.  We feel that this is a special shot to capture.  It’s a private moment before they are reunited with all their friends and family.  As wedding photographers, we make it our duty to sneak little moments like this in – we did it at the church once the family portraits were over, we did it on the way up the stairs that led to their ballroom and we did it once again before the reception commenced.   We do our best to pull our couples aside in a way that doesn’t take away from their day.  We like to think it helps them slow it down and take it all in!  And once that party got started – there was a lot to take in! Everything was wonderful.  Their guests were treated to heartfelt speeches as they enjoyed their meal followed by a party to remember.  Once dinner was over, friends and family had a blast grabbing a prop and showing their best poses at our open-air photo booth.  Rania and Andy got the party started by tossing the bouquet and garter! But wait, there’s more. The crowd really got into it when to everyone’s surprise the dance floor was visited by dancers, a drummer and stilt walkers during the exciting Hora Loca.  The best part was seeing how happy the bride and groom were from start to finish.  This was an event to remember!

I started this blog discussing the crazy weather – but as you scroll through the following images you will see that it had no negative effect on this perfect day. As I previously mentioned, I am confident in knowing that Rania and Andy would not have changed a single thing.  “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” -Vivian Greene. And dance while it rained they did!

Wedding – Secrets Puerto Vallarta – Mexico – Genni + Chris

We fell in love this weekend – over and over again.

We fell in love with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  It’s a vibrant, beautiful place filled with friendly people, a vibrant energy and amazing scenery.  With its golden beaches situated alongside the Pacific Ocean and majestic mountainscape, Puerto Vallarta served as the perfect backdrop for a destination wedding

We fell in love with the resort.  The bride and groom stayed alongside their guests at the spectacular Secrets Vallarta Bay where they were pampered from start to finish.  From hanging out at one of its many sparkling pools to relaxing at their world class spa.  This all-inclusive resort offered their guests unlimited spirits and gourmet dining.  They could not have picked a more perfect location for their wedding day.

We fell in love with Genni and Chris.  From the moment we met this couple we were excited to shoot their wedding story.  These two exude love and we were happy to first capture it during their engagement session.  We love this couple so much that we traveled across the sea to shoot their big day! Genni and Chris have a zest for life that is contagious.  We know we are not the only ones that think they are great. They traveled with a whole crew of their friends and family that know how terrific these two are.

We fell in love with their wedding.  This wedding was a dream come true.  They made it official overlooking the Pacific Ocean as their guests witnessed the exchange of vows.  The ceremony was sweet and romantic.  Once the “I do’s” were official – the party was ready to begin right on the beach! Guests had no issue sinking their toes in the sand.  Sparks were literally flying as the two danced their first dance as husband and wife on the dance floor! After dinner and toasts – dancing ensued and did not stop until the end of the evening. Which by now, if you have been following the love story along, you would know that the end of the night would not be complete without a grand exit!  70+ people on the beach with sparklers surrounded the beautiful couple as they watched an impressive firework display burst into the starry night sky.  It was a perfect ending to a perfect wedding day.  Can you see why we were in love?

Finally, we fell in love once more with our photography business.  We were reminded this weekend why we do what we do.  Yes, we love photography and the art that we produce.  But the real reason we love being wedding photographers is because we love the happiness we can preserve for our clients.  We know that the photos we take today will outlive us one day and will be enjoyed by generations to come.  This is a wonderful feeling!  This weekend was nothing short of amazing and we were able to capture it for Genni and Chris.

So we fell in love this weekend – now you all know! If you would like more information on our services, we would love to hear from you by filling out our contact form.  Please enjoy the following highlights from this beautiful wedding and join us in congratulating Genni and Chris.

Wedding – St Patrick Church – Miami Beach Resort – Denisse + John – Wedding Photographers

There’s a lot to be excited about over this Miami Beach wedding.  Every detail was impeccable and every moment was meaningful.  Guests drank, dined, and danced the night away under the most beautiful ballroom ceiling in town – all in celebration of the union of Denisse and John.  Anyone who knows this couple can attest that their love is certainly worth celebrating!

Getting ready to say “I do” – Denisse and John both got ready at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa.  This portion of the day is one of our favorites! There is a lot of preparation that goes on before the big show and we love being there to capture it.  It’s important for us to capture all of the details in addition to snapping all of those candid shots. We carefully stage the dress, the shoes and of course, the rings! Makeup shots are a wonderful way to focus on the bride’s beauty as she glams up for her groom.  And there is always a bit of raw emotion the moment the bride steps into her gown and is seen by her mom and bridesmaids for the first time.  We like to think of the “getting ready” as an event of its own before the main event.

Saying “I do” – The ceremony took place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  This was the first Catholic parish on Miami Beach and has a beautiful history with the city.  The ceremony was both traditional and heartwarming.  Having two photographers is usually recommended as it allows us to capture two angles simultaneously. In this case, we were able to catch Denisse as she anxiously waited to enter the church along with her father while also being in place to capture John’s reaction to seeing his bride for the first time in her dress.  After the ceremony, we had a very short window of time to take family formals and portraits.  It rained a bit while Denisse and John were busy getting married inside – it’s a good thing she found herself a husband willing to help her with her dress so it wouldn’t get wet! We made the best of it and even got some fun shots out of the scenario.  Luckily, these two had already pre-planned a post wedding session so a little rain wasn’t an issue for them.  They were just ready to get to the party!

They said “I do” – Now that it was official – it was time to celebrate!  Back at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa, guests were already enjoying cocktail hour as the couple snuck into the ballroom to view their exquisite décor.  The resort’s famous starlight room was simply spectacular, the floral arrangements were breathtakingly beautiful, the up-lighting provided by the DJ company helped set the stage for what was to come, and it was all seamlessly executed by one of the best event planners in the business. We make sure to capture all the perfectly selected details – but the ballroom shot is not complete in our eyes unless the couple is in it.  This is their day, their moment, and their décor before it’s touched by guests.

Every wedding, every reception is different.  However, this celebration had a few “extras” that put it in a class of its own.  We try to expect the unexpected at all weddings so that we are prepared for anything yet it was difficult to be prepared the moment Bernie from the Miami Heat joined the party!  Couple his appearance with Hora Loca dancers, a confetti canon shooting 50 lbs. of confetti onto the dance floor and some of the best music mixing in Miami, this was a celebration for the books! Everyone was having fun!  It was clear that all their guests were over the moon for Denisse and John tying the knot.  We hope you enjoy this sneak peek into their wedding day and join us in congratulating them!

Winter Break from a few years back! – Miami Wedding Photographers

In between editing and planning for our upcoming weddings and holiday sessions, Santy and I have been making plans of our own for this year’s Winter getaway.  Every year since we met, we have traveled out of town during this time and this year will be no different.  It’s fun to make these memories and of course take lots and lots of pictures! This blog is dedicated to our 2014 Winter trip.

We started this fun road trip in Amelia Island, located right off the coast of Northeast Florida.  This barrier island has all the charm you would expect from a historic town and one of the most beautiful beaches I have visited.  After dining and a little shopping, we took it back to 1864 with a visit to the historic Fort Clinch as soldiers reenact life during the Civil War. Bobby had a blast exploring all the rooms and chambers!

Next stop – Hilton Head, SC.  A few years back we became Disney Vacation Club Members and just love staying at the DVC resorts.  There is always something for kids to do for fun while also providing serenity for the adults.  Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort provided the best of both. It was a great stay on the path to the following stop.

Our adventure took us north to Boone, NC where I reunited with my sister and her adorable family.  They also drove all the way from Tampa, FL to meet us.  It’s always fun to spend time with loved ones! Being Florida natives, I recall the cold weather being slightly over our comfort level – but that did not stop us from having some fun!  Once there, we all did a bit of exploring of our own by visiting the majestic Grandfather Mountain!  Grandfather Mountain has been an icon in North Carolina’s landscape for generations, offering stunning scenery and unmatched ecological diversity. Here you can see that we were extra brave and crossed the mile-high swinging bridge – not a small feat for anyone that fears heights!  Leaving this area took us on a sightseeing drive through the famous Blue Ridge Parkway that was simply breathtaking.

If you are up in North Carolina, don’t forget to check out Blowing Rock.  It is a neat little town that makes you feel like you are in Europe. The stunning views you get from the actual blowing rock will take your breath away while enticing to explore the surrounding mountain’ trails and waterfalls. Such a fun experience!

We love capturing your most precious moments – we’ve made it our business to do so! But we also love creating our own memories with our loved ones.  Spending time with family was the best part of the trip!  We hope you enjoy this peek into our life.  Now back to planning this year’s vacation…
