This wedding story began last April, surrounded by tulips, in the beautiful countryside of Holland. This is precisely where Lissette said yes to Chris! We are so happy that she accepted his proposal because it led them to the magical day we are sharing with you on the blog today. This Coral Gables wedding was a balance of elegance and fun – just like the couple!
Lissette and Chris began their day at the Hotel Colonnade. This sophisticated hotel located in the heart of Coral Gables, FL offered a great gathering place for the bride and groom along with their bridal party and family. Lissette got ready in a hotel suite that boasts two floors and huge windows that allowed ample natural light to shine in. This was very helpful in terms of photographing the scene and for the comfort of make-up artist and hair artists doing their job to make everyone look their best. This was also the time we took advantage of photographing all the beautiful details and those little moments shared with her girls.
The Westin Colonnade was also the location for the First Look. Some grooms cry when they see their bride for the first time – and Chris was one of them! Just by looking at how beautiful Lissette looked that day, we really can’t blame him. Both avid Cross-fitters, these two met through their shared love of fitness. All that working out paid off because they both looked stunning in their wedding attire! You may even notice the pretty tulips in Lissette’s bridal bouquet – both her favorite flower and a homage to where they got engaged. Such a special touch!
Guests were gathered at the ceremony site situated under a majestic tree in Coral Gables. This is where Lissette and Chris vowed to grow in love together for the rest of their lives. It was an intimate and heartfelt ceremony. It was evident that each guest was full of joy seeing these two become one as they sent them back up the aisle with a bubble send off.
The rest of the evening was spent celebrating the newly married couple at La Jolla Ballroom just blocks from Miracle Mile. This popular wedding venue is chic and modern with a classic twist. We had a chance to sneak the couple away for some final portrait shots both inside and outside the venue as the rest of the guests enjoyed the cocktail hour. We mentioned that Lissette and Chris are both Cross-Fit fanatics – but we have not mentioned that this bride is a dancer too. Even knowing this did not prepare us for the perfectly choreographed dance she and her new husband pulled off as their first dance. There was a lift and all! We are pretty sure all their guests were equally impressed.
Once the formal dances, toasts and dinner were through – it was time for the party to begin. Guests enjoyed dancing to the music and striking a pose at our Photo-Booth. We love when our clients take advantage of our Photo-Booth services as we truly believe it is one of the best wedding favors you can gift to your guests. Lissette and Chris took it one step further and gave each of their guest a 4×6 frame to place their keepsake photograph in. What a great way to commemorate such a fun event!
We are so happy that we got to document this very special day. We wish this couple nothing but the best in life. Please check out the following highlights from their day and also a fun teaser of their wedding video. Enjoy!

It was a flawless day for this elegant engagement session at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. There are so many hidden spaces throughout the gardens that make this venue so unique! Despite the countless shoots we have done at this desirable location, we never tire of shooting here. There is always a new spot to discover and, of course, new faces in front of the camera that bring new life to each session.
The two new faces we had the pleasure of capturing in this session belong to Kadeisha and Oshaine. This lovely couple chose to wear both a classic and a more casual outfit to reflect their style. And boy did these two have style! We just love the vibrant colors in their wardrobe choices. More notably, the way they looked at each other produced the most uncontainable smiles that always make for awesome pictures!
Kadeisha and Oshaine booked our photography services early on in their wedding planning timeline. Many couples choose to do this for several reasons. For starters, there are only a limited number of weekends in a year and we tend to book quickly. We offer full wedding coverage which means your wedding is the only one we will be shooting that day. Hiring us early increases the chance that we are available for your date. Secondly, early booking locks in current prices and allows couples to take advantage of financing options. Also, like Kadeisha and Oshaine, finding a wedding photographer that you feel comfortable with is key. The best way to learn your compatibility is to take engagement portraits prior to your big day. When done with time, these engagement photos can be used for numerous things such as Save-the-Date cards, sign-in books, or a beautiful canvas to display at your engagement party or bridal shower. Lastly, booking your wedding photographer early is just one more item to check off your list of wedding To Do’s – and arguably one of the most important aspects! Your wedding photos are, after all, the only thing you keep after the wedding is over (except for each other, of course!)
Please enjoy this collection of just a handful of our favorite images from Kadeisha and Oshaine’s engagement session!

We couldn’t have asked for a better couple and wedding to start off our new year with! This was the first wedding we shot in 2018 and we are thrilled to share it with you today. There are so many mini-events that occur during a wedding day – the getting ready, the ceremony, the reception, the send-off…. As wedding photographers, we are sure to capture it all – the big moments as well as all the little moments that happen in between. We try to keep our blog as up to date as possible, giving you a glimpse of our style and how the wedding stories unfold.
Elizabeth and Kris are marvelous together and documenting them joining their two families was quite an honor for us. Here is a little break-down of their big day:
Elizabeth got ready at her parent’s house in Miami. There is something special about getting ready for your wedding day at home! Hanging her wedding gown and staging the rings, among other details, were all done in the comfort of her living room. In the other room, Elizabeth and her girls laughed and had a good time before it was time to get in her dress. Mom assisted in buttoning up the gown as dad waited to catch a glimpse of his little girl before they drove off to the church in none other than a vintage fire truck! (Yes, dad is a firefighter)
Elizabeth and Kris were married at the beautiful Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Sticking with tradition, he saw his bride for the first time as she walked down the aisle with her father. This is always a beautiful moment to capture! The ceremony was officiated by the groom’s brother which made the ceremony extra personal and sweet. A perfect way to tie the knot!
The reception took place at Fairways on the Key in Key Biscayne, FL. Guests enjoyed cocktail hour as we snuck the bride and groom onto the golf course for their portrait photos. When couples opt not to do a first-look, we are usually limited to the time between ceremony and dinner to take these important pictures. This takes a little bit of planning but can yield stunning photos – especially when the reception location is as beautiful as theirs! We had plenty of sunlight to work with before the night sky took over as a signal that it was time to party.
The reception space looked like a dream. Orchestrated by the talents at Events by Gigi, it all set the stage for Elizabeth and Kris to dance the night away with their friends and family. As an added bonus, Elizabeth and Kris treated their guests to our Photo Booth where their friends and family could strike a pose and take home a photo souvenir. A good time was had by all!
The couple were sent away with a celebratory sparkler send off as they were wished a happily ever after. We hope you enjoy this blog and join us to wish them the same!

As far of romantic weddings go… this one takes the cake! Every element of Sandra and Jerry’s day came together beautifully. From their exciting first-look at the Trump National Doral to their traditional ceremony at St. Hugh Catholic Church to their picturesque reception at the historic Curtis Mansion – it was all so dreamy!
Sandra was the epitome of elegance in her gown adorned with delicate lace. Every detail fit her to perfection. Jerry looked quite dapper in his tailored tuxedo. We were so happy that they chose to do a first-look because we just couldn’t wait to start taking pictures of the two of them together. That’s how good these two looked! Once at the church, they were greeted with a full house of friends and family. Located in Coconut Grove, St. Hugh is such a lovely church to get married at. We shoot quite a few weddings there and we are always in awe at its beautiful architecture.
Guests were happy to meet the new Mr. and Mrs. at the enchanting Curtis Mansion. Located in Miami Springs, this beautiful estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and truly offers the perfect setting for a romantic wedding. We loved the stunning courtyard lit by bistro lighting. The décor was on point – almost as sophisticated as the couple themselves. Everything felt magical – but the true magic was apparent in the way Sandra and Jerry glanced at each other. It was so obvious that they are madly in love!
This wedding was the last one that we shot in 2017 and was a perfect reminder as to why we do what we do. There is no doubt that we love the art of photography – I think it’s fair to say that most photographers do! However, it’s the moments that we capture that move us. We feel a lot of pride in being able to deliver memories in photographs that will be cherished for generations to come.
Join us as we wish Sandra and Jerry a happily ever after!

It’s hard to believe that January is almost over. This month has been a great kick-off to 2018! We’ve had back to back weddings and have had some incredible meetings with new clients that have us excited for what’s to come. We weren’t going to let the month go by without sharing some highlights for one of last year’s most anticipated weddings! You may remember these faces from our blog post back in June. We photographed their engagement session in Key Largo, FL and pretty much fell in love with these two – and not just because they are huge Miami Hurricane fans! Jessica and Jesse are such a cool couple and it was only fitting that their wedding day was as awesome as it was.
Our day started and ended at the Double Tree Hilton Biscayne Bay where the Bride and Groom got ready and partied all night – respectively. With her girls by her side, Jessica got all dolled upbefore slipping into her gorgeous wedding gown. In the meantime, Jesse was suiting up to see his lovely bride for the first time. We love this process! Once at St. Dominic Catholic Church, they were met with so many smiling faces from their friends and family who were present to see Jessica and Jesse say “I do”. It was a beautiful ceremony! Back at the hotel, all the details were flawlessly executed to create a perfect ambiance for the reception. Everything was amazing – from the flowers to the cigar bar to the bumping music and dancing. How can you top an already amazing wedding? When you know your groom as well the way Jessica knows Jesse, you invite the other love of his life to the party – Sebastian the Ibis! This bride and groom know that “It’s All About the U” … but on their wedding day, it was all about their LOVE! Please join us as we congratulate Jessica and Jesse on their happy union.

Alyssa and Israel are high school sweethearts that met when they were only 15 years old! Their story is a true love story that began at Coral Reef Senior High School and led them down the aisle this past weekend. Together, they are the definition of soulmates. From the moment they met as kids, they had that connection that led to friendship and romance. They have grown up together and motivated each other to be the amazing people they are today. Their wedding day was years in the making and was such a beautiful beginning to the next chapter as husband and wife. We feel so honored to have been there to capture those memories for them!
We met Alyssa and Israel back in January when they booked us for their engagement session and December wedding date. December is among the most popular month’s to get married in South Florida so we encourage couples to book us as soon as they book their venue to ensure that we have their day available. We only shoot one wedding per day and once we are booked we have to send the dreaded email stating that the day is no longer available. It’s never really too soon to book us – we have already booked our first wedding for 2020! Luckily, we were available for Alyssa and Israel’s big day and what a lovely day it was!
They could not have chosen a more perfect day to say “I do”. Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton followed by a gorgeous reception at The Addison. It was a daytime wedding which was full of love, delicious food, and dancing – so much dancing! A good time was had by all. Everything was spectacular – from the anticipation of seeing each other as they got ready early in the morning to the awesome bubble send off by their friends and family. We hope that you enjoy this blog post as much as we enjoyed capturing every moment. Congrats Alyssa and Israel!

If you are reading this, we hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day filled with great food with your loved ones. We certainly enjoyed ours! We didn’t want November to slip away without expressing the things we are thankful for. Gratitude is certainly a topic that comes up during this season – but it is a worthwhile topic to talk about all year long. If you follow our blog, you may notice that we often acknowledge the relationships we genuinely feel grateful for – our friends, family, clients and colleagues. We have learned to make gratitude part of who we are rather than just something we conjure for the holidays or solely when good things happen. There is always something to be grateful for! We are happy to share Yvette and Diego’s wedding on this blog to help highlight some of these things.
We are grateful for our clients. First and foremost, our clients are the center of our wedding photography business. Without them, Photography by Santy Martinez would cease to exist. We are extra thankful for clients like Yvette and Diego – happy, sweet and charismatic. We are grateful we are trusted to capture important moments for them. Our clients are simply the best!
We are grateful for our unique vantage point. As wedding photographers, we get to witness a multitude of traditions and cultures and travel to different states, countries and continents that we had never imagined. We meet people from all over the globe and experience life in a beautiful way. We are thankful for every second that we get to do this job and every place it takes us. Thank you, Yvette and Diego, for providing these moments on your special day. We really enjoyed capturing your families’ traditional ceremonies and overall good time. Knowing that these photographs will be enjoyed for generations gives us purpose and for that, we are grateful!
We are grateful for the wonderful vendors we get to work with every weekend. There is so much talent that goes into every aspect of a wedding. From DJs that keep the party going to the amazing wedding planners … we have had the pleasure to work with some of the best in the business! This wedding was no different – Yvette’s beautiful makeup application was done by the awesome Touch of Beauty by Lily and the gorgeous centerpieces were designed by Stems by Jen. We also can’t forget the amazing staff at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale! These are just a few examples of the vendors that make a wedding day extra special and in turn, helps us create beautiful images for the couple. We are so thankful for them!
We are grateful for our small business and the lifestyle it has allowed us to create. It has been an amazing year. This Fall season alone has been back to back weddings every weekend since September. Although we may miss out on some of our own family moments on the weekends, we are thankful that our business has allowed us to control how we spend our time. We are able to work while also being present for our children during the week which is priceless. Protecting this lifestyle is what motivates us to always give 150% of our energy and talent at every job we do.
We are thankful for our staff and each other. Who wouldn’t want to work day in and day out with their spouse? Ok, maybe don’t answer that! However, Santy and I actually love working with each other. Photography was one of the first bonds that brought us together and we feel lucky to share it with each other. We had so much fun shooting this wedding together at the Bonnet House in Ft. Lauderdale. Witnessing romance every weekend only strengthens our own relationship and for that, we are grateful! Additionally, the rest of our staff, from second shooters to videographers to our fabulous photo booth attendants, make going to work a blast! Thank you!
And we can go on and on…. I’ll instead leave you to a peak at Yvette and Diego’s wedding day and let the pictures speak for themselves!
